Jamie Lidell

Back
Jamie Lidell's second album, Multiply caught people off-guard in 2005.

With 2008's JIM, Jamie Lidell built on the incredible foundations he'd laid with the dazzling (and critically adored) long-player Multiply, to construct a warm, invitingly plush bordello of funk, disco, grooves and gospel; with a secret chamber of poignant soul. JIM garnered more plaudits and accompanying live shows saw Jamie evolve from one-man sonic manipulator into a dandy showman leading a blazingly talented four-piece across clubs, stadia and TV studios around the world - although the edge of musical chaos that Jamie thrives on was never too far away. In the world after JIM, Jamie has retreated into studios in Los Angeles with Beck, and emerged as a member of the prestigious Record Club (http://www.beck.com/record_club), he's also been recording new material with Chris Taylor of fellow Warp prodigies, Grizzy Bear. So, these are truly interesting times for Mr Lidell, and even though JIM has gone (for the time being), creatively restless Jamie is only going to keep on moving. (Ben Slater)
